Baffle Insert Idea by Kevin McCorkle
This is a different idea on how to secure the
drain pipe inserts in your mufflers after you have drilled out the baffles. I
tried the JB Weld method and they fell out on my first ride (not saying JB Weld
does not work, mine was old and more than likely bad) but with JB Weld and
cutting tabs into the insert will hold them in place for a long time.
I started out with two 1.5 by 4 inch flanged drain pipe as recommended, I took
my dremel tool and cut them to an inch and a half, I just wanted to dress up
where the baffles were cut out. Approx. ¼ to 3/8 of an inch from the flange I
marked out three evenly spaced boxes, with the dremel tool I cut three sides of
the box to make a tab (see attached picture) I would recommend working the tabs
once you have them cut, I did not and had a hard time bending them into place.
But once the tabs are pushed in the insert will be held firmly in place.
